The Busy World of Richard Scarry-Play it Safe - People Who Can Help
In this video Huckle and Lowly learn about people who can help. Don't fear the people who can help you are always near you. Firefighters, nurses, doctors, teachers, and police officers are identified as some of the people who can help us. This is a great teaching resource for a thematic unit on community helpers in the early childhood classroom and/or for our special education students. (1:03)

Abnormal Cervical Appearance: what to do, when to worry?
Petra Casey, MD, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, discusses her article appearing in the February 2011 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, (available at http://mayoclinicproceedings.com/content/early/2011/01/26/mcp.2010.0512.abstract) which lists common cervical lesions encountered in practice and distinguishes those that can be safely observed from those needing further evaluation by a gynecologist. It also includes practical tips on how to make

1.054 Mechanics and Design of Concrete Structures (MIT)
The main objective of 1.054/1.541 is to provide students with a rational basis of the design of reinforced concrete members and structures through advanced understanding of material and structural behavior. This course is offered to undergraduate (1.054) and graduate students (1.541). Topics covered include: Strength and Deformation of Concrete under Various States of Stress; Failure Criteria; Concrete Plasticity; Fracture Mechanics Concepts; Fundamental Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Structura

The K-W-L Chart
This video discusses the K-W-L graphic organizer. This is most often used when reading or researching about a specific topic. This video uses the topic of Egypt as an example. The K stands for what you already KNOW, the W stands for WHAT you WANT to know, and the L satnds for what you LEARNED. (4:00)

This is a module framework. It can be viewed online or downloaded as a zip file.
As taught Autumn/Spring Semesters 2010/11.
This module addresses the nature of ‘modernity’. It explores the ideas and historical experiences that transformed societies in Europe and around the world during a series of epic journeys from the distant past to the near present. In the autumn semester lectures and seminars provide a broad chronological survey of major events from 1789 to 1945. The focus is on key e
1.033 Mechanics of Material Systems: An Energy Approach (MIT)
1.033 provides an introduction to continuum mechanics and material modeling of engineering materials based on first energy principles: deformation and strain; momentum balance, stress and stress states; elasticity and elasticity bounds; plasticity and yield design. The overarching theme is a unified mechanistic language using thermodynamics, which allows understanding, modeling and design of a large range of engineering materials. This course is offered both to undergraduate (1.033) and graduate
