Portland Rubens' Tube - Music Trials
This is a very interesting physics demonstration built to visualize the concept of standing waves. Sound from a CD player is used to create pressure nodes in a tube of flammable gas. Three different songs are played and the different frequencies in each make different shaped waves. Elementary GLOBE: Cloudscape
A learning activity for the "Do You Know That Clouds Have Names?" book in the Elementary GLOBE series. Using information from the book and their observations, students construct a sky scene with trees and buildings as reference points on the ground and cloud types ordered by altitude in the sky. Students will describe clouds using their own vocabulary and will then correlate their descriptions with the standard classifications of cloud types used by the GLOBE Program.
