Biography

Dr Stephen Davies received his B.Sc. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, studying, for the latter, the organometallic chemistry of bimetallic cycloheptatriene/cycloheptatrienyl systems. He was a post-doctoral research associate, at Manchester, involved in the synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of chemical analogues relevant to the active site in the family of enzymes containing the molybdopterin, specifically, those responsible for the reduction of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO reductases). He joined the Chemistry Department in 1999 as a Research Officer in the Bioinorganic Group.

Research Summary
