Biography

Matthew Cliffe received his DPhil (2015) at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Goodwin. His doctoral studies were focused on the characterization of disordered framework materials, both developing structure determination methods for amorphous materials and investigating correlated defects in metal-organic frameworks. He then took up a Research Fellowship at Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge, where he worked with Prof. Clare Grey, studying local structure in metal-organic frameworks and dense molecular frameworks. In October 2018 he moved to the University of Nottingham as a Hobday Research Fellow.

Current Research

Our research focuses on the intersection of structural disorder, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and exotic physical properties. We are interested in how we can control disorder in MOFs to generate new and unusual magnetic and electronic behaviour.
