Current Research
My current research focuses on Jewish legal self-defense against Nazi propaganda in the 1930s and on various legal questions surrounding the regulation of antisemitism. More generally, I research in the socio-legal history of Nazism and the Shoah and in current manifestations of antisemitism.
Another project examines the comparative legal historical evolution of antitrust/competition law as it reflects populist politics and ideals of democracy, including the role of industrial concentration in Nazi Germany and the emergence of ordo-liberal notions of economy and democracy.
Past Research
I have published on legal aspects of National Socialism and on law and lawyers under Nazi occupation, with a special emphasis on anti-Jewish persecution under legal regimes.
My more recent research focuses on Jewish encounters with non-Jewish legal systems in the Anglosphere, including studies on the regulation of Shechita, constitutional and political issues surrounding access to public education for Jewish students in Montreal, and the use of libel law by Jewish communities in Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States, against Nazi antisemitic propaganda in the 1930s.
I have also written on cricket and the law.
