Biography

Stephanie Wright joined the School of Law in September 2021 as an Assistant Professor in the English Legal System and Legal Skills.

Stephanie completed her LLB Law degree at the University of Manchester in 1998 and post graduate Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in 1999 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Stephanie qualified as a Solicitor, specialising in Employment Law, in 2001 and was an active member of the Pro Bono Committee at Browne Jacobson (Nottingham) including volunteering in the evenings at the Citizens Advice Bureau Employment Law Surgeries.

To further a commitment to promoting access to justice, in 2006 Stephanie set up NTU's Nottingham Law School Pro Bono Legal Advice Clinic and supervised students providing legal advice to the local community, and introduced an Employment Tribunal representation service in the role of Supervising Solicitor (Pro Bono), alongside teaching on undergraduate and post graduate programmes. From 2014, in the role of Senior Lecturer Stephanie developed a number of core undergraduate and Clinical Legal Education modules with a focus on developing critical reflection, legal and employability skills. Stephanie led on legal literacy outreach work, as the Streetlaw Co-ordinator, to support widening participation.

Stephanie volunteered as a Local Authority School Governor at Top Valley School & Engineering College (later Top Valley Academy) from 2005-2014, with positions of responsibility including Vice Chair of Governors and Chair of the Pupils, Personnel and Planning Sub Committee; Member of Strategy Group and Pupil and Staff Discipline Committees, adjudicating on a number of staff and student disciplinary matters.

Stephanie Wright is the Module Convener for two Clinical Legal Education modules: Law in Practice (final-year undergraduates) and Student Law Office (for selected second-year undergraduates). These experiential learning modules enable students to gain academic credit through practical legal experience, while developing professional, legal, employability, and reflective practice skills.

Stephanie also teaches on the Undergraduate Employment Law module, drawing on her professional practice expertise to deliver lectures and tutorials.

Between 2021 and 2025, Stephanie was part of the School of Law Legal Skills Team, where she focused on enhancing students' legal and professional employability skills. She introduced innovative projects such as the InterVarsity Client Interviewing Competition and an Advocacy Mock Trial Project in collaboration with Trading Standards. In recognition of this work, Stephanie was appointed Director of Employability and Professional Development, working closely with the University's Careers and Employability Service and external partners to provide a wide range of opportunities and support.

Stephanie served as Deputy Senior Tutor for the School of Law from 2021 to 2024 and is a trained Mental Health First Aider.

In 2023, she was appointed External Examiner for the University of Law's Apprenticeships LLB and LLM Reflective Journal modules.
