Stephen Bailey read Law at Queens' College, Cambridge, taking the B.A. and LL.B degrees. In 1972 he joined the (then) Department of Law at the University of Nottingham. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1985 and Professor of Public Law in 1989. He was successively, Head of the Department of Law (1992-94), Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (1994-98) and a Pro Vice-Chancellor (1998-2004). From 1 December 2007 to 31 July 2014, he was Head of the School of Law. He was President of the Society of Legal Scholars in 2013-14 ands is currently Chair of the SLS Legal Education Sub-Committee. He was Vice Chair of Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Lincoln.
Stephen Bailey has taught and published over a wide range of subjects, including administrative law, civil liberties law, local government law, the English legal system and tort.
My current research includes administrative law, local government law and tort.
