Luisa Martinez-Pomares is module convenor of the Innate Immunity and the Immunopathology of Inflammation module delivered to 3rd Year Medical students and the Innate Immune Recognition Module which is part of our MSc courses: MSc in Immunology and Allergy and MSc in Microbiology and Immunology.

Current Research

Luisa Martinez Pomares is a world-renowned expert in macrophage biology and author of multiple influential reviews (J. Leuk. Biol., Trends Immunol., Immunobiology, Cell). Luisa has extensive expertise in innate immunity and cell biology with significant levels of funding for studies of immunological mediators of sterile inflammation (MRC), cancer (CRUK) and immunological responses to Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MRC) and Neisseria meningitides infections (MRC). Luisa's lab has generated multiple recent publications on host-pathogen interactions (Infection and Immunity 2019; Nature Microbiology 2018; Frontiers in Microbiology 2018; PLOS ONE 2015; Cell Micro 2015; Scientific Reports 2019).
