Biography

Karina is a Research Associate in Polymer Chemistry and Clinical Translation at the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham. With a background in Chemistry (BSc) and Medical Sciences (MSc), she is enthusiastic about multidisciplinary research aimed at advancing healthcare solutions. Karina recently completed her PhD in Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham, where her thesis "Development of Anti-Biofilm Polymer Coatings for Neonatal Feeding Tubes" focused on combating medical device-associated infections in vulnerable infants.

Currently, she is part of a collaborative project developing a wireless, real-time monitoring system designed to non-invasively track the body's response to implanted devices, using glucose sensors as a proof of concept. Her research interests include polymer chemistry, biomaterials, microbiology, biofilms, and mass spectrometry.
