Biography
I graduated from the University of Nottingham and went on to undertake my Pre-registration year with Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust. Here I completed my Post-graduate Clinical Diploma and went on to specialise in stroke, prior to undertaking my Independent Prescribing in elderly care. This enabled me to take on the role of a Senior Clinical Pharmacist specialising in Frail Elderly Care services. It was through this that I was able to find my real passion of primary care through setting up a domiciliary service for medication reviews and working closely with both primary and secondary care teams. I was involved in the 'SHINE project' which introduced the concept of involving families and carers into shared decision-making for residents within care homes and led to development of the care homes team within NHCFT.
In 2014, due to the issues in shortages of GP's I was tasked with the job of setting up clinics for Clinical Pharmacists within a GP-setting and this led me to taking on a role, in 2016, as Clinical Pharmacist at Church Walk Surgery (since merged to Eastwood Primary Care Centre).
In 2020 I was offered partnership within the GP Practice which was accepted. This position has enabled me to develop the pharmacy team within the practice, which now includes a Trainee Pharmacist, a Practice-based Pharmacist and PCN Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. We have also been able to host work-experience placements.
In 2020 I also took on the role of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Primary Intergrated Care Services within Nottingham, which involved over-seeing the pharmacy teams of 11 different Primary Care Networks, with approximately 100 staff, and providing assurance of clinical governance and clinical supervision.
