Biography

Sreenivas Patro Sisinthy received his PhD in pharmaceutical technology (2008), master's degree in pharmaceutical technology (2000), and bachelor's degree in pharmacy (1997). After completing his master's, he started his career in academia as a lecturer and gained significant professional experience in teaching from various universities across countries including India, Libya and Malaysia. In his academic career, he was holding a variety of appointments and demonstrated experience in teaching.

Dr Patro has significant experience of scientific research, works in a wide range of drug delivery topics like nanoemulsions, nanofibers, metallic nanoparticles etc. He has over 50 publications to date in reputed journals. He also held the posts of programme director of postgraduate programme in pharmacy programme.

Dr Patro aims to train competent and compassionate healthcare professionals through constructive and active learning strategies in his teaching. He teaches undergraduate and graduate students in pharmacy with various innovative technology-enhanced teaching methods.

Current Research

Currently, Dr Patro is working closely with researchers from various departments and schools locally and internationally to establish a research network to design and execute research projects in nanoformulation based drug delivery systems including metallic nanoparticles, nanofibers and nanogels.

Past Research

  1. "Green Synthesis of Cellulose Nanocrystals from Oil Palm Agro-Waste for the Development of Quercetin-Loaded Nanogel in Oral Mucosal Therapy". ITS_UNM Collaboraive Research and Innovation Fund (RM 33,000) (Principal Investigator).
  2. "Cellulose Nanocrystals Reinforced Mucoadhesive Films for Sustained Release of Curcumin via Buccal Delivery". STRG (RM 20,000) (Principal investigator).
  3. "Biomaterial based nanofiber loaded with deferoxamine for as potential wound dressing for diabetic foot ulcer". TRGS-MFS (RM 50,000). (Principal investigator).
  4. "Role of Arjunolic acid and Chebulinic acid on cardio-metabolic functioning in MyD88 dependent TLR-4 downstream signaling pathways: Therapeutic and molecular approach". This is a flagship research grant funded by Taylors University, Malaysia (Co-investigator).
  5. "Design and Optimization of a Self-Nano Emulsifying Drug Delivery System for Oral Delivery of Olmesartan Medoxomil Using Indigenously Available Natural Oils". This grant was funded for Ringgit Malaysia 27,000 (TRGS-ERGS) by Taylors University, Malaysia (Principal investigator).
