The School of Physics secures UK access to the European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL)

Description
Prof Amalia Patane, president of the EMFL user committee and Professor of Physics at Nottingham, has secured 3.9M Euros of EPSRC funding to secure 5 year's access for the UK research community to the European Magnetic Field Laboratory.

Prof Peter Morris awarded CBE

Description
Hearty congratulations to Professor Peter Morris, Director of the Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre, who has been awarded a CBE for services to science and medicine, in particular his work on Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology, in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

Newton "Researcher Links" workshop on 2D Material Systems

Professors Mohamed Henini (UK) and Paulo Cesar (Brazil) have received funding to organise a workshop on 2D layered materials which will provide a unique opportunity for early career researchers (holding PhD less than 10 years) to explore opportunities for building long-lasting research collaborations.

Description
The School is proud to announce that a support staff team led by John Middleton and Chris Pallender has been awarded a Guardian Newspaper University 2015 Award. The award was in the Sustainability category for recycling of helium.

Physicists win UoN Staff Oscars

Description
The School is delighted to announce that two members of School staff have won University of Nottingham Staff Oscars. Professor Philip Moriarty won Best All-Rounder in the Teaching category and Dr Meghan Gray was runner up for Best Use of Technology. Both awards richly deserved.

New Graphene Growth MBE Facility Opens
