Nottingham University Business School invites you to hear special guest speaker: Philip Deakin, Group Head of Finance at Connect Group plc

Philip is Group Head of Finance at Connect Group plc a specialist distribution business with £1.8b of revenues and a listing on the London Stock Exchange. He is responsible for Group Financial Reporting, Group Tax, Group Treasury and Group FP&A. Prior to this role, he had been CFO at Dun & Bradstreet (Benelux). Philip is a Fellow of the Institute Chartered Accountants and qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Philip will give a practitioners overview on how a listed company prepares and presents its Annual Financial Report to investors and lenders. It will provide an opportunity to consider some of the current topics in financial reporting, treasury and tax. Main topics discussed during the seminar will include:

  • Typical financial reporting timetable at year end and the key stakeholders involved
  • Preparation of financial statements => Audit => Board approval => Prelim announcement

Financial Minds Lecture Series

A series of finance-themed events for alumni and students. We invite senior people working in finance and finance related roles to talk about a variety of current financial topics. Events are open to Business School and University alumni, students, and staff as well as visitors from business and industry.

These events are an opportunity to gain a unique and inspiring insight and meet people from the business and University communities.
