Biography
I received a Pharmacy (M.Pharm.) degree from the University of Nottingham in 2009, after which I carried out my pre-registration training at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals (Imperial College London NHS Trust). I returned to the University of Nottingham in 2010 as part of the Targeted Therapeutics CDT (jointly funded by AstraZeneca and the EPSRC) and carried out research projects on: particle engineering using a supercritical water reactor, emulsion stability (at AstraZeneca, Macclesfield) and in silico molecular modelling. During my Ph.D. I collaborated closely with MedImmune (Cambridge) and the Chemical Engineering department at the University of Nottingham. My thesis provided formulation and processing insights for designing quality into lyophilised biopharmaceuticals. After completing my Ph.D. I worked in R&D at Mars Inc. as a Statistician at the Waltham Centre of Pet Nutrition before moving into a Product Technology Scientist role at the care and treats manufacturing facility in Birstall, Leeds.
I have since returned to the University of Nottingham as the Research and Business Manager for the Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (NMRC) - a new cross-faculty research facility offering a suite of state of the art instrumentation and allied expertise for material characterisation and analysis. Within this role, I facilitate and co-ordinate the activity of UoN and external users to the NMRC, act as the point of contact for services rendered work and I co-support the development of research grants and other bids relating to the NMRC.
