Max has taught Software Engineering in the School of Computer Science since 2013. Up until 2024, Max has taught first year Introduction to Software Engineering, teaching an overview of the whole software engineering lifecycle, with a group work assessment in Test Driven Development. In 2025, Max moved to the 2nd year Software Engineering, which focuses on DevOps theory and practice, with an individual assignment focused on refactoring and building DevOps pipelines.

During the last 8 years, Max has also supervised an asynchronous portfolio module that accredits learning outcomes that students have achieved through independent projects.

Max supervises undergraduate group projects, undergraduate dissertations, and masters dissertations.
