I'm convening Design Ethnography (G54DET) in the spring semester (2016).

In the past, I have co-convened Design Ethnography (G54DET) with Andy Crabtree in the spring of 2015. I have co-convened G54MET (Understanding Users in Computer Science) in the 2014 fall semester, also with Andy Crabtree.

I'm an assistant professor at the Mixed Reality Lab, School of Computer Science.

My research interests are broadly in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Ubiquitous Computing and currently particularly include

  • Design Ethnography and Participatory Design
  • Collocated interaction (with and around technology), and collaboration (e.g., CSCW)
  • Studies of deployments 'in the wild'
  • Mobile Experience Design

In topics such as:

  • Internet of Things and everyday life
  • Non-profit workplaces (charities)
  • Energy
  • Disaster response
  • Interruptions and interruption management
