This conference will celebrate the long and rich career of Judie Newman OBE, Professor Emerita in American Studies at the University of Nottingham.

Professor Newman has made an immense contribution to American Studies, both in the UK and globally, through her highly respected, wide-ranging and prolific scholarship; her bold leadership; her inspirational teaching and supervision; and her many acts of public service. A huge force in her field, she has launched the careers of many of her fellow scholars and educators.

Co-organised by Dr Ruth Maxey (University of Nottingham) and Professor Sarah Meer (University of Cambridge), this special two-day event will include conference papers delivered by invited scholars from the United States, Ireland, Israel, Italy and the UK.
