Do you have an interest in volunteering, are a fluent Greek speaker and have a knowledge of the topography of Laconia? Then the CSPS needs you!

The Centre is looking for a volunteer who can assist with the production of an archaeological and archival resource for the archaeology of southern Laconia (i.e. the area covered by the modern Municipalities of Anatoliki Mani, Elaphonisos, Evrotas, and Monemvasia). The start date for the volunteer work is Monday 18 October 2021, and the successful volunteer will work closely with the CSPS Director Dr Chrysanthi Gallou.

The volunteer needs to be able to evidence the following traits:

  • be native or fluent Greek speaker
  • have excellent knowledge of the topography of Laconia
  • have evidence of engaging with the archaeology, history or culture of the region
  • be available to volunteer with us during term time until early February 2022. The volunteer will have access to hot-desking in the UoN Humanities Building, where CSPS is based.

  • have prior knowledge of and/or contribution to the work of CSPS.

In return, you will gain valuable experience and knowledge in the research and study of aspects of the archaeology and culture of southern Laconia.

If you are interested, please send an expression of interest to csps@nottingham.ac.uk outlining how your qualifications and experiences fit the opportunity offered. Deadline for EoIs: Monday 11 October, 5pm (UK time). No interviews will be held for this opportunity.

Informal enquiries may be directed to CSPS Director Dr Chrysanthi Gallou.
