Discover our Enhanced Library Support

Friday, 20 October 2023
Are you a student with a disability support plan? Libraries have services and support to help your studies.

Our Libraries aim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all our library users with a range of support services to ensure that you have the resources and assistance available to meet your needs. The Enhanced Library Support service is designed specifically for disabled students and those with a learning difficulty or long-term health condition.

What does our Enhanced Library Support service include?

  • Assistive Technology Rooms (ATRs): Our libraries are equipped with dedicated Assistive Technology Rooms where you can access specialised equipment and software to support your studies. Guides provided detail information on the equipment available in each room, as well as instructions on how to book the room and locate them inside libraries.
  • Enhanced Support Room: We have created Enhanced Support Rooms located in quieter areas of our libraries. These are dedicated bookable spaces prioritised for students with a disability support plan.
  • Extended library loan and collection periods: We understand that sometimes you may need extra time to complete your assignments or research. That's why we offer extended loan periods for high demand materials, ensuring that you have ample time to access and utilise the resources you need.
  • Alternative Format Service (on referral): We understand that not all students learn in the same way. That's why we offer alternative formats for books and resources, such as audio or electronic versions, to accommodate your needs.
