Student Accommodation for the Summer Term

Wednesday, 01 April 2020
The University of Nottingham has asked all students, who are able to do so, to return to their permanent residences in order to comply with the necessary travel and social distancing restrictions set down by government and the health authorities.

In doing so, we have ensured that teaching and assessment will continue online for all students. This will ensure you are not academically disadvantaged and can complete your degrees or progress to the next year of your studies at the usual time.

Now that teaching has moved online, the University has contacted students to confirm it will not charge accommodation fees for the summer term on unoccupied rooms in the halls of residence operated by ourselves or UPP.

We have also been working actively with student accommodation companies in the city to support and encourage them to do the same. Many of these companies have now confirmed that they will not charge students for unoccupied rooms in the summer term and we will continue our dialogue with the rest.

If you do not want to stay for the summer term in your University or UPP accommodation, please complete this online form so we can cancel your charges.

If you live in accommodation provided by a private provider, they will have contacted you with details on how to release your room and cancel your accommodation charges.

Please do not travel to collect any belongings from your accommodation. In University-owned halls your possessions will be stored securely and can be collected once coronavirus travel restrictions are lifted. For UPP accommodation, please contact them directly for further information.

If you do need to stay at the University during the current coronavirus pandemic - either in halls or in off-campus accommodation - please complete this online form. This will help us to provide support to anyone still at University over the coming weeks.

Our Students’ Union can provide support and advice on housing and rent issues and can be contacted at suadvice@nottingham.ac.uk. If students are facing significant financial hardship during the coronavirus outbreak, the University may be able to offer interest free loans or non-repayable grants. For further information, please visit Support Funds or contact financialsupport@nottingham.ac.uk.
