Current Research
Dr Bowman's research sits at the intersection of gender studies, migration, and higher education capacity strengthening, with a strong focus on equitable partnerships and knowledge production and dissemination in the Global South. Her recent research, co-developed and co-delivered with African partners, examines gender inequalities in higher education and foregrounds women's voices and experiences in order to drive more equitable institutional change. Central to this work is a focus on ensuring that women have access to leadership knowledge, networks, and opportunities that enable them to attain and thrive in leadership positions. Her publications highlight the gendered dimensions of knowledge production and dissemination in Sub-Saharan Africa, the value of co-created research, and the potential of Africa-UK collaborations in strengthening higher education systems through equitable and transformative research partnerships.
