Description

An East Midlands Physics Partners Network event hosted by the School of Education

This workshop will provide valuable CPD for anyone new to teaching physics at KS3/4. Delegates will consider different ways to teach the required practical elements of the GCSE with a developing network of teachers in the East Midlands, led by expert teachers.

This workshop will be in two parts, firstly focusing on strategies for introducing forces at key stage 3 and the effective use of purposeful practical work and demonstrations.

The required practical ' Investigating Force and Acceleration', will then be the focus, considering and trying a method that avoids the use of light gates, to produce reliable and accurate results.

There will be discussion on strategies to reduce uncertainty in measurements.

The workshop will also cover how key terms related to the curriculum content can be integrated into this practical.

In both sessions we aim to highlight common student misconceptions and how to pre-empt and overcome these in the classroom.

This event is free to attend, with free parking on campus. Light refreshments will be available.
