Description

Presented by the Young Historians' Project (YHP)

The Young Historians Project (YHP) is a non-profit organisation formed of young people of African and Caribbean descent. Founded in 2015, YHP works on dynamic projects, documenting pivotal and often overlooked historical moments of Black British history. We hope that through our projects, more young people of African and Caribbean heritage will rediscover history and develop the skills to become the historians of the future. Each one, Teach one.

Our first project, 'We are our own liberators' debuted in October 2017 and presents the history of the Black Liberation Front (BLF). The BLF, set up in 1971, was one of Britain's most influential Black Power organisations. YHP interviewed former BLF members and conducted extensive research, culminating in a documentary film and portable exhibition.

This event will include an introduction into YHP's work and mission, a film screening of 'We are our own liberators', and Q&A session with YHP members.

Refreshments will be available
