As part of our commitment to our partnership schools, we are inviting secondary mentors and other English colleagues to attend this Subject Interest Group (SIG) seminar. The idea behind the SIG is to provide opportunities for professional dialogue and development amongst our peer group supported by external speakers to provide expert input.
November's SIG is focusing on the teaching of poetry, with a particular emphasis on teaching poetry for the GCSE examination. The session will be jointly led be a Multi-Academy Trust Subject Director for English and the Secondary English PGCE team from the University of Nottingham. It will include practical teaching strategies as well as some theory and background work. Teachers will leave with more ideas about how to teach poetry in their classrooms.
Refreshments will be available from 4.30pm. The seminar will run from 5pm - 7pm.
