Description

English Subject Interest Group Seminar

As part of our commitment to our partnership schools, we are inviting secondary mentors and other English colleagues to attend this Subject Interest Group (SIG) seminar. This is a space for English teachers to come together as a subject community and engage in discussion and reflection on issues pertinent to English teaching.

February's SIG is focusing on diversifying the English Curriculum. This seminar is an opportunity to explore research-informed approaches to curriculum design and share ideas for innovation.

We will

  • consider the role of teachers as ‘curriculum makers’ and reflect on the recommendations in the Curriculum and Assessment Review (2025) for diversifying curricular
  • review resources from the National Literacy Trust, Lit in Colour and NATE designed to help teachers implement a diverse curriculum and make English more inclusive for all pupils
  • share our Spark Something Powerful Project and thinking about how parallel texts might be used in the ‘gaps’ within the curriculum
  • hear from colleagues who have started their journey in diversifying the curriculum

Refreshments will be available from 4.30pm. The seminar will run from 5pm - 7pm.
