Description

History Education Subject Interest Group (SIG)

As part of our commitment to our partnership schools, we are inviting secondary mentors and other history colleagues to attend our Subject Interest Group (SIG) seminar. The idea behind the SIG is to provide opportunities for professional dialogue and development.

Using open-book assessments in history with Swerupa Gosrani and Charlie Herring from the Belper School

This seminar will explore how and why the Belper School history department has moved to a system of open-book assessments at Key Stage 3 to allow assessments to focus on developing students’ essay-writing skills and disciplinary knowledge. It will explore the impact this has on the improving students' substantive knowledge and what we might learn from this as history teachers.

Registration is from 4.30pm, at which point light refreshments will be available.  The seminar will start at 5pm and finish by 7pm.
