Harnessing the power of collaboration: time for collective learning to speak back against corrosive competition

New editorial by Professor Howard Stevenson published in Professional Development in Education.

Howard wrote on his return from the 7th International Summit on the Teaching Profession, hosted in Edinburgh in March 2017. The event was co-hosted by OECD, Education International (the global teacher union federation of nearly 400 affiliates and 32 million educators) and the Scottish and UK governments. At the conference there were many delegations, representing the education departments, professional associations and teachers from each country. The Summit is an opportunity to meet together, take stock, learn from others and, above all, discuss the big questions confronting the teaching profession in the first decades of the twenty-first century.
