Congratulations to Professor Bernadette Youens who takes up her new role as Head of School of Education today.
Bernie brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked as a science teacher before joining the school a lecturer in 1998. Since then, Bernie has been a course leader for the PGCE and Graduate Teacher Programme, going on to become Director of Initial Teacher Education. She has also been course leader for the Professional Doctorate (EdD) programme, contributes to teaching on the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) and supervises masters, EdD and PhD students. Latterly she has also taken on the role of Deputy Head of School. Bernie is also a published researcher with her main area of interest being initial teacher education with emphasis on mentoring beginning teachers.
Bernie follows on from Professor Andy Noyes' successful four-year term as Head of School.
