British Academy Writing Workshop Award

Congratulations to Dr Juliet Thondhlana for receiving a British Academy Writing Workshop Award. The Writing Workshops 2019 programme aims to further collaborative links between researchers in the UK and in the Global South, and promote the uptake of research emanating from the Global South in academic journals.

Writing for Sustainable Development: Towards Strengthening African Grant and Research Writing for Publication

This workshop will further African countries’ agenda to achieve development through higher education by developing the grant writing and impact publication capacities of early career researchers in African universities. This is motivated by the perennial underrepresentation of Africa in knowledge production. The workshop will respond directly to this problem by facilitating mutual learning between early career researchers in six sub-Saharan Africa countries and senior researchers and editors of international journals in the Global North and South. The sustained interaction will increase the likelihood that new work produced by researchers from this Global South region will generate stronger impact through being published and cited in international journals where it can be debated more globally. The workshop is also intended to support Global North editors of leading international journals in gaining knowledge about how to increase the visibility of new African scholarship.

Please visit the British Academy Writing Workshops website for more details on all the current projects.
