Sustainable improvement in multi-school groups

Professor Toby Greany's report, commissioned by the Department for Education has been released.

The research included Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), Teaching School Alliances (TSAs), Federations and Local Authorities (LAs) and aimed to identify what these providers do to facilitate continuous, sustainable school improvement across the schools they work with.

The research focussed on three questions:

  • How do these school improvement providers identify the improvement needs of schools and the appropriate solutions to those needs?
  • How do they implement necessary changes in schools in order to achieve sustainable improvement?
  • How do they measure and monitor improvement?
