Following on from a successful International Research Collaboration Fund bid by the Gender-Sensitive Approaches to Literacy and Maths (GESALM) Group, colleagues from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and SEAMEO CECCEP (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting) were invited to the School of Education for a three-day workshop to explore and accelerate global understandings of early childhood education.
The goal of the visit was to take the first steps towards developing a sustainable, strategic partnership between the three organisations and to develop researcher expertise, agree priorities for future collaborative work, and design research funding applications for 2023-24.
The three days included in-depth discussion sessions on maths and literacy education in early childhood, and gender-sensitive pedagogies. Indonesian PGR students in the School of Education also had the opportunity to present their research.
The visit was highly successful and the teams look forward to deepening collaborations over the coming months.
