Congratulations to Ian Bainbridge who has successfully defended his thesis: Supporting law students in the transition to higher education: an intervention. He will now be awarded a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD).
Ian commented "Having completed the process I can now reflect on what a rewarding and developmental process working towards the EdD has been. The skills and knowledge I have learnt are already having a positive impact on my work and on my professional approach. The support of my supervisors has been crucial throughout as has the support of colleagues."
Ian was supervised by Professor Sarah Speight and Dr Joanna Al-Youssef.
Joanna reflected on Ian's time on the EdD saying "It has been a joy working with Ian. His perseverance, openness, and willingness to grow and develop as a researcher and a professional shone throughout his EdD journey."
Commenting on the viva itself, Professor Speight said "Ian gave a great performance in the viva, showing in-depth knowledge of his study but (more importantly) also real insight into the transition challenges of undergraduate students. I feel that his work can have practical application not just in law and not just at Nottingham."
Thanks to examiners Dr Susan Jones and Dr Harriet Dunbar Morris.
Well done Dr Bainbridge.
