Learning Sciences Research Institute collaborations

Members of our Learning Sciences Research Institute are collaborating with colleagues to explore how to effectively and ethically utilise AI in higher education.

For example, Dr Gabriela Zapata is an advisory board member for the OpRaise collaborative initiative, examining opportunities and risks of the use of generative AI for assessment in UK higher education. This also involves psychology scholars from the University of Nottingham, Cambridge University, and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Closer to home, Dr Lenka Schnaubert has worked with the University of Nottingham chemistry department to explore innovative pedagogical approaches using AI. A paper on the project has been published in the Journal of Chemical Education: AI4Green4Students: Promoting sustainable chemistry in undergraduate laboratories with an electronic lab notebook.
