On 11 November, the Centre for International Education Research hosted a hybrid research seminar in collaboration with the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC), Hiroshima University.
The presentation, ‘Comparing Education Donor Logic in China and Japan: Promises and Practices’, was delivered by Dr Tingting Yuan (School of Education) and Dr Nozomi Sakata (Hiroshima University). The project is funded by the Bilateral Collaboration Fund of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the University of Nottingham’s International Research Collaboration Fund (IRCF).
A strong turnout of in-person and online participants from universities in the UK, Japan and China generated a lively, high-quality discussion. The speakers shared compelling documentary and empirical findings from Japanese and Chinese aid practitioners, and received constructive feedback and strong interests from the discussant and audience calling for further investigations on educational specifics in foreign aid studies.
