New research on the educational inclusion of refugees with disabilites

Refugee children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are too often overlooked in research, policy, and practice.

In May 2025, Refugee Education UK together with Professor Joanna McIntyre and the Hub for Education for Refugees in Europe (HERE), convened a parliamentary roundtable exploring the intersections of refugee education and SEND.

This resulted in research that highlights this urgent issue and calls for a more inclusive and intersectional approach to ensure that refugee learners with disabilities receive the tailored support they need to thrive in education.
