It’s been a month since our Observatory for Mathematical Education launched the inaugural Review of Mathematical Education (RoME 2025). With 50,000 insights, we hope the findings in RoME 2025 will drive meaningful action to improve the enjoyment, understanding, attainment and progression in maths for the nine million learners in England’s schools, colleges and universities. Professor Jeremy Hodgen writes the next blog on the report and its findings, focused on secondary education. While most secondary school pupils consider maths to be important, 40% of students reported ‘high’ or ‘somewhat high’ levels of anxiety about it. Jeremy highlights this, and other insights, in his blog.
