Head of the Microwave Process Engineering Research Group, Faculty of Engineering
Chris Dodds is the head of the Microwave Process Engineering research group.
I work on the design, scale up and commercialization of microwave and radio frequency processes. Fundamental understanding of the microwave / material interactions at a molecular level is required to maximise the process benefits which include improved energy efficiency, product quality and throughput with reduced environmental impact including carbon footprint.
We are a highly multidisciplinary team working across a wide range of applications and sectors. Recent applications include:-
· Sustainable polymer processing
· Offshore treatment of drilling wastes
· Energy efficient mineral processing
