Jon McGregor Receives Vice Chancellor's Medal

Jon McGregor Awarded Vice Chancellor's Medal

Staff and students in the School are extremely proud of Jon and his internationally recognised work and delighted that his achievements have been recognised and celebrated by the University through the award of a Vice Chancellor’s medal.

The quality of Jon’s writing has been recognised over many years, and more recently his new novel Reservoir 13 made the longlist for the Man Booker Prize 2017* (Jon was longlisted alongside other literary greats such as Paul Auster and Zadie Smith.) Jon also won the Costa Book Award for best novel of 2017. Published by 4th Estate, Reservoir 13 opens with a desperate search for a 13-year-old girl, vanished on a moor in the Peak District in the depths of winter. According to The Guardian it is: “An extraordinary novel of cumulative power and grace. Reservoir 13 explores the rhythms of the natural world and the repeated human gift for violence, unfolding over 13 years as the aftershocks of a stranger’s tragedy refuse to subside.”
