Learning Technology Consultant, Faculty of Registrars
Interests:
I have worked in the field of e-learning since 2002, having come to the field during studying for a degree via e-learning. I was attached to the successful e-learning project MELEES in Mathematical Sciences before coming to the School of Geography. My interests include understanding how students interact with e-learning environments and the different ways they engage with interactive online resources. I have been working with various internet technologies since 1999.
Recent projects in Geography have included engaging students with learning content through podcasting, the use of rich media in teaching, assessment through the use of interactive materials and the introduction of a system where students can anonymously ask questions during lectures via sms from their mobile phones. I have also been part of the team engaged in the JISC funded DELVE project (Design of Learning spaces in 3D multi user Virtual Environments). [website]
I have been awarded a Lord Dearing Award in 2009 in recognition of my contribution to teaching and learning within the School of Geography.
