Biographical details

He was born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, and became Tesorero Real de las Cajas, Cuenca. He joined the revolutionary army, and was shot at Ibarra in 1812.

He married Manuela Garaicoa. Of their children, one son, Abdón was killed at Pichincha in 1822; his daughter Baltazara participated in the post-independence period. (Estrada, 38-39) .
