San Martín attended her tertulias, which were centres of independence activities and had a good deal of influence. (García y García, 275)

She was the daughter of Dr Francisco Arias de Saavedra Conde de Casa Saavedra, who subscribed to El Mercurio Peruano. (Clémente, 1997, I, 84)
