Archivo Nacional de Chile

Address: Sta Lucia Santiago de Chile

Contact:

Description: Most of the 19th century holdings are on microfiche. It helps to have a good idea of what you are looking for before arriving. There are catalogues (books) that are not totally accurate. Photocopies can be ordered, but take several days. The staff in the photocopy room are extremely helpful. Bags are not allowed into the archive, but lockers (free) are provided. I was told that photographing of documents (no flash) is allowed, but the ones I was looking at were all on microfiche.

Opening hours 9am - 5.30 pm (Mon to Fri); 10am - 2pm (restricted access) Saturday.
