Title:  "SMEs and ASEAN Economic Integration"

Abstract:

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have significant presence in ASEAN economies.  Within the framework for the ASEAN Economic Community, SMEs are expected to contribute towards a more equitable economic development.  This goal is to be achieved within the context of greater regional economic integration via improved market access and participation in global value chains.  This lecture examines the challenges that SMEs face in achieving this goal. It will also analyse and assess the nature of ASEAN initiatives on SME development.
