Our Internationalisation Strategy continues apace with further growth and development at our China and Malaysia campuses, and we have again won The International Strategy of the Year Award at the 2017 Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs).
In order to deliver the very best teaching and transform lives through our world-changing research we need to continually review our goals and actions to secure our long-term success. This year, the Office of Global Engagement has carried out a refresh of our Internationalisation Strategy, which has renewed our focus, resources and commitment so that we can work together to deliver on our ever greater ambitions.
Internationalisation is a two-way process; for the University to realise the full benefits of our global reach we must give as much as we get. We believe as a community that by working multilaterally rather than unilaterally we achieve more in terms of teaching, research and knowledge transfer. We concentrate our energies on cultivating enduring, boundary-spanning relationships that are mutually beneficial, which applies to students and to academic and commercial partners.
Internationalisation is an investment for the future and requires a long term commitment to our students, to our staff, and to our partners globally.
We seek to maintain the highest standards in all that we do.
Social and environmental responsibility
Knowledge is a public good and we recognise that we have a responsibility to generate and share knowledge for the greater good of society. Although we are fundamentally a British institution, internationally we will always aim to be sensitive and relevant to local circumstances. As an educational institution operating on a global level, we are committed to educational capacity development in emerging economies, doing so in a way that is environmentally sustainable.
Aims and Objectives
- Secure our achievement in establishing our two campuses in Asia, by fuller integration, coordination and expansion, and taking advantage of all the opportunities association with their success.
- Develop a small number of multi-faceted partnerships with key institutions in a range of regions.
- Magnify the international impact of our research and commercialisation activities and significantly expand student and staff mobility.
- Further internationalise our curriculum and the experience of all our students, wherever they study.
We are always keen to engage with like-minded institutions and potential partners.
