Glossary
-
Centile charts - are the charts produced in the UK by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health which identify the average values of length/height, weight, head circumference and BMI for children growing up in the UK. Each child growing up in the UK will periodically have their height/length and weight measured and then plotted on these charts to assess their growth and development.
The charts have a series of lines on them - centile lines, indicating the range of values showing normal growth. A child should grow alongside one of these lines throughout childhood.
