Gender differences

Adolescent boys and girls differ in their confidence in certain intellectual abilities and skills. Adolescent girls tend to feel more confident about their reading and social skills than boys, whilst boys tend to feel more confident about their athletic and maths skills. This is the case even though their actual abilities are roughly the same. Conforming to cultural gender stereotypes seems to be an explanation for these differences.
