Introduction
A child's development begins at the point of fertilisation. During pregnancy the single fertilised egg develops into a baby. The full-term baby is born around 9 months after fertilisation and grows quickly into a toddler. By 6 months old the baby is usually able to sit with support and around 9 months is starting to get around and learning to crawl. Curiosity drives the baby to explore as she progresses through all aspects of development.
The first 1001 days of physical development to the child's 2nd birthday are said to be the most challenging of anyone's life and it is these that we will explore in this learning resource.
