Student Placements

The Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC) offers students from law, social sciences and the humanities various opportunities to get involved in projects and events of the centre throughout the year.

These positions provide students with an opportunity to work, on a voluntary basis, in a world renowned academic human rights centre, gaining valuable experience to complement their studies. 

In 2021, postgraduate and undergraduate students could apply to be involved in the following HRLC projects:

  • National Implementing Legislation Database (NILD) and Cooperation and Judicial Assistance Database (CJAD) (law students only)
  • International Human Rights Reports Assistant (law students only)
  • Scholars at Risk – Student Advocacy Seminar
  • Mental Disability Law and Compliance with the UN CRPD (law students only)
  • Refugee Clinic (law students only)

Application procedure

Please fill in the form. You will be required to send us an up to date copy of your CV with a 300-word statement of interest. You will have to indicate the role(s) that you are interested in, as well as relevant skills and experience for the position. It is possible to apply for up to three assistant positions.

The deadline for applications is midday (12 noon) on Friday 15 October 2021. Applications should be sent to hrlc@nottingham.ac.uk. It is expected that shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview to take place from Wednesday 20 October 2021.
