History undergraduate awarded national prize for dissertation

We are pleased to announce that Hamish Percy was awarded an undergraduate dissertation prize by the British Commission for Maritime History for his thesis entitled "‘As Eminent a Savage as the Most Notorious Character among Them’: Sailors’ Lives, System of Cruelty?" which investigated the ways in which sailors' lives on board slave ships could be seen as a form of slavery. Hamish graduated with a first class degree in July 2019.
