Biography

Natalie Haydon-Yeung is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law and a Family Solicitor (Non-practising).

Natalie has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Nottingham and a Professional Diploma with Distinction having followed an approved programme in Legal Practice from Nottingham Law School at Nottingham Trent University.

Natalie undertook her training contract at Freeths LLP before qualifying with Geldards LLP as a Solicitor in the Family Team in 2015. In 2024, she was promoted to Partner.

Natalie's legal career has been grounded in advising and representing individuals in complex and sensitive areas of family law, including divorce, high-value and complex financial remedies, private children matters, cohabitation disputes, and pre-and post-nuptial agreements.

In 2019, Natalie was recognised by Derby and District Law Society as Junior Lawyer of the Year.

In 2022 and 2023, Natalie was recognised by a leading legal directory, the Legal500 as a "rising star."

In 2024, Natalie was awarded Solicitor of the Year by Nottinghamshire Law Society and was recognised as a "Leading Associate" by Legal 500.

Natalie is a Sutton Trust Alumni having taken part in a Sutton Trust Summer School at the University of Nottingham. Natalie is passionate about supporting widening participation initiatives and her work was recognised in 2018 by The University of Nottingham when she was awarded, The University of Nottingham Volunteer of the Year.

Teaching Summary

Natalie teaches Family Law and Child Law modules, Introduction to Law and Legal Theory and Student Law Office on the undergraduate program.

Natalie has previous experience teaching law students as a visiting Associate Lecturer on the Family Law and Child Law modules on the Legal Practice Course.

Research Summary

Research interests are in the fields of Family and Child Law and in developing legal education to equip students with the necessary skills to start their careers.
